Technical sense
what does not accord with the relevant order — invalid at its root, or in an ontological register nonexistent

General Technical Meaning

Bāṭil can mark what is invalid at its root or, in an ontological register, what is nonexistent.

In ʿAllāmah Ṭabāṭabāʾī’s Works

In al-Manāmāt, bāṭil is used contextually for what does not accord with the relevant order and is further qualified as false by accident. These author-context uses do not replace the general senses of invalidity and nonexistence.
