Ḥads

حدسḥads

Preferred translation
intuition
Technical sense
the mind's rapid passage from principles to a conclusion without extended discursive search

General Technical Meaning

In logic and philosophical psychology, ḥads is the mind’s immediate, self-derived grasp of a syllogism’s middle term, enabling rapid passage from principles to the sought conclusion without the gradual movement of discursive thought.

In ʿAllāmah Ṭabāṭabāʾī’s Works

Chapter 7 §4 calls ḥads an initial, summary intuition that precedes assent. It is a cognitive intuition, not the homographic ḥadd, ‘definition’.
